FULGOR S.A. announces that it is now part of the HELLENIC CABLES Group, following the purchase of 100% of its share capital.
The HELLENIC CABLES Group of Companies is the largest cable industry in Greece and owns five production plants, three in Greece and two abroad. The HELLENIC CABLES Group of Companies also includes ICME ECAB S.A. in Bucharest, Romania, and LESCO O.O.D. in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, as well as a number of other companies used for the distribution of the company˘s products in Greece and abroad. The company started its activities in 1950 as a cable production plant of VIOHALCO. In 1973 the company was established under the name HELLENIC CABLES as an independent subsidiary of VIOHALCO and proceeded to expand its production and trade operations. Since its establishment, the company has focused on integrating state-of-the-art technologies and its goal has been to manufacture products for the international market.
Through its participation in the HELLENIC CABLES Group, FULGOR S.A. will strengthen its export orientation, while a positive impact in the Group's future results is expected from the resulting synergies in sales & distribution, supply chain, production and research & development of new products. With the addition of FULGOR S.A. HELLENIC CABLES Group grows into one of the largest cable groups in Europe.

|30/10/2006: Economic results first Semester 2006
After a “low price negotiations” by the Greek Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) FULGOR S.A. has been awarded the supply of telecommunication plastic insulated copper cables. The overall budget is 4.500.000 € and will cover the needs of year 2006 and first semester of 2007.

On March 2005, the Greek - Italian Chamber awarded to our Company distinction as honor of the many years contribution to the development of Greek - Italian relations.
2004: Cables with increased Shock Resistance (CEI 20-68/11.02)
Research and Development for Unarmoured Medium and High Voltage XLPE Insulated Land Cables with Increased Shock Resistance.
Following the demands of the international market FULGOR S.A. developed in 2004 special unarmoured power cables which conform to the crash resistance test according to the International Standard CEI 20-68/11.02.
Although these cables are unarmoured they provide mechanical protection equivalent to metal armoured cables. This is achieved through a special sheath which is extruded under the outer sheath of the cables.
The cables are produced with copper or aluminum conductors XLPE insulated, with a laminate aluminum screen, a special inner sheath and an outer PE sheath.
The special inner sheath absorbs the shocks that may be caused during or after installation protecting the insulation and the aluminum screen and ensuring the normal operation of the cable. The shocks that the cable may absorb regard deformation energy greater than 40 Joule without causing any damage on the screen and the insulation of the cables.
The new cables have the following advantages:
- Increased mechanical resistance against shocks during and after installation without the need of any additional outer protection i.e. metallic armour, special ducts, protection of concrete cement plates e.t.c.
- Practically complete protection against outer water & humidity penetration.
- Less weight and smaller diameter as compared to equivalent metal armoured cables.
- Faster and more economic installation.
For this type of cables the same accessories for the metal armoured cable may be used.
In case these cables are required with additional fire resistance properties this can be achieved with sheath made of special materials.
Until todate the research and development have been concluded for medium voltage cables.
2002/2003: Patent Licence by O.B.I.
In the scope of research and development of Our Company the OBI (the Greek Industrial Property Organization) awarded to our Company in the year 2002 a Patent License for a flexible factory joint which connects metallic (steel) tubes which contain optical fibers. This joint is used in order to achieve long continuous lengths of submarine optical fiber cables, composite submarine power - optical fiber cables, in joints for composite terrestrial power - optical fiber cables as well as other applications.
Our Company proceeded also in an application for the patent for this joint in the year 2003 in the European countries as well as in USA and Canada.
Also, during 2003 a Patent License was awarded to our Company by OBI for submarine power cables.
This joint is used in order to achieve long continuous lengths for submarine power cables as well as for composite submarine power / optical fiber cables.
